We have taken on the task of completely renovating a house located in Blasco de Garay street, in the Poble Sec neighborhood of Barcelona. It is a flat for one person or to live together as a couple. Although it is a small flat it has a lot of potential and we have taken it upon ourselves to distribute it in a more efficient way. A first improvement was to expand the main area of the floor, where the living room and dining room are located. For this reason, we have demolished the wall that separated the day area from the bedrooms.
Now it is a larger space and it is connected to the new kitchen. The distribution is much more fluid than in the original form. On the other hand, a bedroom has been created on the right side of the floor. This is a spacious room that can be furnished with a double bed, bedside tables and a wardrobe. In addition, it has a large entrance of natural light.
For the new image of this house renovation, we opted for a contemporary style design. The new white walls are combined with a laminate parquet floor in natural wood tones. To achieve a more homogeneous image, we have installed white doors, as well as the plinths.
The original kitchen is now a dressing room and the new kitchen is located in the area of the old bedrooms. In this way, the kitchen renovation fits better with the rest of the flat and offers more functionality. In this regard, the new kitchen has an L-shaped layout and is fully equipped.
It also has more storage capacity and has a custom-made void where we have placed the washing machine and the heater. These elements were located where the bathroom is now. To make the most of the space, we have created a linear bathroom equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a very large shower tray.
In both the bathroom and kitchen renovations, we have maintained the overall design of the flat. The kitchen furniture has a clay tone, while the tiles in the bathrooms are grey. In this way, we have generated bright spaces with visual amplitude. These are perfect features for a small apartment.
